7 Steps to Increase Web Traffic

The typical attention span of a web user is about 7 seconds. When you’re searching for a product or service, you’re immediately given a list to choose from. If you’re website doesn’t get their attention within the first 7 seconds, they’ll leave and go to another site down the list. This is what we call the “7 Seconds Rule”. Here are 7 ways to catch Grab website visitors attention:

Landing Page

Think about having a Landing Page as your first page to click on. A Landing Page is like an online flyer. It’s short and simple and usually offers a promotion to grab your visitors attention. It can change as often as you like depending on what you’re trying to promote. Great way to keep your website interesting without having to redesign your home/welcome page.

Videos

Strong Headline

Make a great attention grabbing headline similar to a headline from a magazine ad (old school writing at its best). The stronger the headline, the better the response.

What’s in it for me?

When people come to your site they are asking “What’s in it for me?”. Give them that . A  great offer stands out and gives them a reason to stick around.

Keep it Simple

In old school marketing, we applied the same rule to newspaper ads. The ad with a lot of white space, strong headline, and powerful image always stood out. Ads that felt the need to say everything blended in. Things haven’t changed that much. No one wants to read a novel or feel overwhelmed when they visit your site.

Strong Visual

Look for a strong image for your banner. Visual recognition sticks in our memory.

Create Buttons

Add buttons to make it easy to navigate. Don’t assume people will go to your menu. If they have to work hard to navigate your site, they’ll leave. Do the work for them.
